ACF Broward Division: Our future, moving forward

Our current 2009-2010 Officers:

Vice President: Araxa Jamarillo

Representative: Antonina Russo

Secretary: Nicole Weill

Sergeant At Arms: Michael Estevez

Historian: Ehi Omigie

Schools of the ACF Broward Division:

Apollo MS,Lyons Creek MS, New River MS, Tequesta MS,

Pines MS, Everglades HS, Margate MS, Outreach, Hallandale HS,McArthur HS, New Renaissance MS, Miramar HS, Stranahan HS,

Indian Ridge MS, South Broward HS, Perry MS

The ACF Broward Division has had a great year so far! Some of the successful events Aspirantes have participated in thus far have been the ASPIRA Broward Family Day, ASPIRA of Florida Puerto Rican Day of Discovery, Family Picnic, Youth Leadership Summit, and so much more.  Each of these events building up a sense of leadership, community and unity among us.

March ended with our second local college tour. Aspirantes visited Florida International University and Barry University, spoke with Admissions and Financial aid advisors as well as learned about campus life, including Greek life.

Around 45 to 50 participants have been actively involved in the monthly ACF Broward meetings. These meetings generally take place the first Friday of the month at the Broward Division’s main office from 5-8pm. Our biggest challenge right now is securing community support for the upcoming Community Service-a-thon that will take place April 24 at Dania Beach. Aspirantes from the tri-county area will do a mass beach clean-up effort at a local beach (for each division) on this same day for 5 hours. Showing how we are all ASPIRA and together we can make a difference in our community.

Christopher Romero, President ACF
