Expansion To South West Florida

ASPIRA of Florida is on the move after finalizing an expansion agreement with one of the largest Hispanic youth groups in Southwest Florida.

Jan11-Pic1Aymet Chaples, ASPIRA Interim President/CEO, and Latin Rhythms Clubs Director, Annette Gonzalez-Sibert met on January 20, 2011 to begin the transformation of that organization into the new ASPIRA Southwest Division.

"I never would have imagined how important this would be for the community and now I look back and see how many people the club has impacted," said Ms. Gonzalez-Sibert.

The expansion will extend into Lee and Collier counties and over 250 students from 8 secondary schools will join their peers from divisions in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, along with the 1500 students that attend the three ASPIRA charter schools in Miami.

In addition to the Latin dance and cultural enrichment, students will hone social skills, learn leadership techniques, and receive assistance completing their education in order to prepare and apply for college.

"I'm looking forward to the opportunities that this new growth will bring to our organization. It's always exciting to add new members to our ASPIRA family," said Ms. Chaples.
