ASPIRA North Chess Club Makes Third Place

On December 12, 2009 the chess team of ASPIRA Youth Leadership Charter School in North Miami participated in the Title I Region II Chess Tournament. Once again the team came back to the school with a trophy. The "ASPIRA North" Chess team placed third on this event which qualifies the school to advance to the district tournament in May 2020. The Chess Club members who participated in the competition were elated with their third place and looking forward to the next competition. Read more...

Teachers Jumping for Heart

Teachers with Heart participates at our 7th Annual Jump Rope for Heart event sponsored by the American Heart Association and the AAHPERD. The students cheered for their teachers and had a great time jumping rope, shooting baskets and competing in relays.

"Charter North" Chess Team gets Trophy at National Tournament

2009_national_chess_resizedThe ASPIRA Charter North Chess Team participated in the IV Supernational Chess Tournament held in Nashville, Tennessee from April 2-5, 2009. The team obtained the fifth place in the K-9 Unrated Category bringing back a beautiful trophy for the ASPIRA of Florida organization. We are very proud of this accomplishment and hope to see more participation in the future. ASPIRA was also commended for being the third charter school in the nation to participate in this important event. Read more...

ASPIRA North Gets Trophy at State Championship

chess_teamOn the weekend of February 6-8, 2009 ASPIRA North Chess Club had the privilege of attending the 2009 Florida SUPERSTATE VI Scholastic Chess Championship held here in Miami, Florida. This was the second time the school chess team attended these events. Last year the team traveled to Orlando to compete at state level for the first time. The experience was great but the team came back empty handed; only the top 5 teams in the state got a trophy; ASPIRA North's team came in sixth place. This year, however, things got better; the team placed fifth in the competition's K-8 Unrated category and came back to the school with a trophy. This is a great accomplishment not only for our school but also for the ASPIRA organization. Read more...
